We love cooking on our Blackstone Griddle. These Street Tacos are one of our favorites. These copycat food truck tacos are filled with tender flank steak and seasoned to perfection. You can even use the meat to make Blackstone Burritos.

Taco night is our favorite night. We top these tacos with fresh cilantro and chopped onion. These tacos are perfect for a weeknight meal or to feed a crowd.

What are Street Tacos?

Traditional Mexican tacos are called street tacos. The meat is stuffed into a corn tortilla and topped with cilantro, salsa and onions. In a traditional street tacos, there are no lettuce, cheese or tomatoes.

Variations Ideas

  • Change Meat – This recipe can be made other types of meat. Make with pork, chicken, or ground beef.
  • Seasoning – Add in other types of seasoning add in chili powder, garlic powder, or cumin for added flavor.
  • Taco Shells – We like to make with smaller corn tortillas but you can also make with flour tortillas.

How to Make Street Tacos on Blackstone Griddle

  • Step 1 – Preheat the Blackstone griddle over high heat at 450 degrees. You want the griddle to be hot to get a good sear on the steaks.
  • Step 2 – Thinly slice the steak and chop into bite site pieces.
  • Step 3 – Spread the oil out onto the Blackstone grill. I used vegetable oil but you can easily use any oil with a high smoke point. Avocado oil, coconut oil or canola oil all work great in this recipe.
  • Step 4 – Once the oil is hot, place the sliced steak on the Blackstone grill on top of the oil. Season the steak with salt and pepper. Let them cook for 2-3 minutes and do not move them to get a good sear on the steak.
  • Step 5 – Use a spatula to flip the steaks onto a separate section of the grill. Then cook the steaks for 2-3 more minutes to sear the opposite side of the steaks.
  • Step 6 – Then top the steak with 2 Tbsp of the butter and allow it to melt into the steak mixture.

  • Step 7 – Remove the steak from the grill to a separate plate. Top with the fresh lime juice and set aside.
  • Step 8 – Melt the remaining butter on the Blackstone grill and place the tortillas in a single layer on the grill. Cook the tortillas for 2-3 minutes per side until browned.

  • Step 9 – Then it’s time to assemble the tacos. Use 2 tortillas per taco. Spoon the meat mixture onto the tacos. Then top with the cilantro and diced onions.
  • Step 10 – Serve warm and enjoy.

What kind of Steak for Carne Asada Street Tacos

We used flank steak in the recipe but you can easily make these tacos with skirt or sirloin steak too.

How to Store Leftovers

Refrigerate the leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days. This cook steak meat is perfect wrapped in a corn tortilla or serve over some cilantro rice.

I like to make extra steak for a yummy lunch the next day.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs Flank Steak
  • 1 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 2 Fresh Limes
  • 4 Tbsp Butter divided
  • 16 Street Taco Size Corn Tortillas
  • 1/2 Onion chopped
  • 1 Bunch Cilantro finely chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat the Blackstone griddle over high heat (approximately 450 degrees F). You want the griddle to be hot to get a good sear on the steaks.

  • Thinly slice the steak. Then chop into bite site pieces.
